When you call a PG owner, please mention that you found the PG on Paying Guest in Bengaluru. It helps the owners know where their calls come from and keeps this directory free for everyone.
The Ladies PG in Bangalore page brings together PGs for women and girls across the city, including luxury PGs for ladies. Most area pages, such as Koramangala and BTM Layout, also have a Women tab, so you can see only the ladies PGs in that area. Many of these PGs are run only for girls and working women. Owners usually list facilities such as home style food, WiFi, CCTV, hot water, attached bathrooms and regular cleaning. Single rooms and two sharing and three sharing rooms are common, but the exact options differ from PG to PG, so check the listing and ask the owner.
The Mens PG in Bangalore page lists gents PG and boys PG options, with food and sharing details on each listing. On area pages such as Electronic City and Marathahalli, the Men tab shows only the PGs for men. Some PGs for men offer North and South Indian food three times a day and a lunch box, along with WiFi, washing machines, power backup and parking. Sharing can go from single rooms to larger rooms for four, five or six people, which suits students and people who want to keep the rent low.
The Coliving PG in Bangalore page lists colive PGs for men and women. A few of them offer couple rooms, for example in Mahadevapura. Coliving PGs are often close to the big tech parks, such as the PGs near Embassy Tech Village and Bellandur, and some of them have newly furnished rooms with a TV and a study table in every room.
If you prefer a hostel, the Hostels in Bangalore page lists ladies hostels and gents hostels, area wise. Hostels and PGs are similar in how they work. You pay a monthly rent, food is usually included, and you share common areas with other residents.
If you are not sure where to begin, you can start with these areas: Koramangala, BTM Layout, HSR Layout, Whitefield, Marathahalli, Electronic City, Bellandur, Indiranagar, Mahadevapura and JP Nagar. Every other area is in the full list above and in the search box at the top of this page.
Koramangala, BTM Layout and HSR Layout are close to each other. Whitefield, Marathahalli, Bellandur and Mahadevapura sit close to the big tech parks on the eastern side of the city, such as ITPL and Embassy Tech Village. Electronic City is the choice for people who work at the companies in Phase 1 and Phase 2. Indiranagar and JP Nagar also have PGs for ladies and gents listed with us.
Many people moving to Bangalore compare a PG with a fully furnished home rented out on a sharing basis. Furnished homes often look modern in photos, but food is usually not provided and you may have to pay two months as an advance. In a PG you usually pay one month as a security deposit, and you get home style North and South Indian food. Some PGs in Bangalore even offer multi cuisine food.
If you do not need food, a furnished shared home can suit you well. If you want good home style food every day and a smaller deposit, a PG is usually the better choice. Either way, visit before you pay and ask the owner exactly what the rent covers.
A paying guest, or PG, is a person who rents a room in a house or a building and pays for the stay and usually the meals as well. A PG room can be taken for a short stay of one to six months or for a longer stay of six months and more. Paying guests are mostly students and young working professionals who want something more affordable and simpler than renting a whole flat alone.
In most PGs you get a furnished room, either private or shared, and access to common areas. Food, laundry, WiFi and cleaning are often part of the monthly rent. You also meet other residents from different parts of India, which many people find helpful when they are new to Bangalore.
A PG is a simple, low cost way to live in Bangalore. You move into a room that is already furnished, with the basic amenities in place. You do not have to buy furniture, set up a kitchen or deal with separate bills for food, water and electricity. A PG usually asks for a smaller deposit than a rented flat, and home style North and South Indian food is a big reason many people choose a PG over a fully furnished rented home.
There are a few things to keep in mind. In a shared room you live with people you have not met before, which can be uncomfortable for some. You will have to follow the house rules set by the owner or the manager, such as timings and visitor rules. And the rent for a single room in a PG can be higher than sharing a regular flat. Think about what matters most to you before you choose.
Start with the area. Bangalore is a big city and travel time matters, so look for a PG near your office, college or the nearest metro station. Our area pages are grouped by locality and by landmarks such as tech parks, colleges and main roads, so you can search the way you already think about the city.
Next, decide what kind of PG you want: a ladies PG, a gents PG or a coliving PG. Then look at the sharing type, whether food is included, and the facilities that matter to you, such as WiFi, hot water, an attached bathroom, power backup, parking or a lift.
Before you pay anything, visit the PG in person. Check the rooms, the bathrooms and the kitchen, and read the terms and conditions carefully. Ask about the deposit, the notice period and what is included in the rent. We are an online portal where PG owners list their PGs. We neither own nor manage any PG, so please confirm every detail with the owner before you pay an advance.
Bangalore is the third largest city in India and is known as the Silicon City of India. It is a big IT hub, and every year many students and working professionals move here for college and for work. If you are new to the city, finding a good place to stay can be hard, and a PG is usually the easiest place to start.
When you are settled, there is a lot to see at the weekend. Well known landmarks include Cubbon Park, Lalbagh, Bannerghatta National Park, Bangalore Palace, the Summer Palace of Tipu Sultan and Vidhana Soudha. For a day out, people head to Wonderla on Mysore Road, Fun World and Snow City at Palace Grounds, Nandi Hills, Jakkur Aerodrome for micro light flying and paragliding, and Pyramid Valley on Kanakapura Road.
Temples that many visitors go to include the ISKCON Temple in Mahalakshmi Layout, the Kempfort Shiva Temple on Old Airport Road, the Bull Temple in Basavangudi, the Halasuru Someshwara Temple, the Banashankari Amma Temple, the Domlur Chokkanathaswamy Temple and the Gavi Gangadhareshwara Temple. If you love food, try VV Puram Food Street, Jyoti Nivas College Road in Koramangala, Gandhi Bazaar in Basavangudi, Vijayanagar Food Street and Church Street near Brigade Road and MG Road.
